Launching CardSmart's Online Lead Engine On Trust and Convenience

CONSULTING VISUAL DESIGN MARKETING

CardSmart is a financial technology startup that specializes in payment processing for small businesses—they handle over 100,000 point of sale transactions a day!

I worked closely with their leadership team to refine their outdated online presence, earning them dozens of new customers and subsequently 100K+ in new annual revenue!

Hey! What’s this project about?

This is a 2-month consulting project I did for a local payment processor, CardSmart.io
They help businesses accept digital and crypto transactions with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
Their customer pipeline was centered around an expensive call center, making thousands of calls per day with little return.

OK, so what did you do?
Chris Z
I identified their website as an opportunity for a quick win, and a way to passively generate more leads.
Only one problem: the current site was ineffective, not converting, and outdated.

Discovery

In a discovery session with CardSmart’s account team, I learned that while they had no problem attracting potential customers to their website, they had difficulty converting those views into demo sessions for their platform.

It was clearly due to a lack of trust established by the site—it did not inspire sufficient confidence to compete with Square or Toast.

And, here's how that was executed on the new site:

Takeaways

I'm proud to say that the new site and lead gen form resulted in dozens of new business customers for CardSmart—and hundreds of thousands of dollars in added revenue!

I don't normally do consulting work, but this was an exercise in delivering quick wins by capitalizing on unforeseen opportunities—the cost savings of relying less on the call center and more on driving traffic to this site was huge. The account executives were ecstatic to begin receiving leads.

Overall, I learned that building trust is absolutely critical for any business—in any way you can. CardSmart delivers good products, but it wasn't up until now that they were able to market and depict that in a packageable way.
